【摘要】:Pitchdoesnotgothroughasolid-liquidphasechangewhenheated,andthereforeitdoesnothaveatruemeltingpoint.Asthetemperaturerises,pitchsoftensandbecomeslessviscous.Thesofteningpointisarbitrarilydefinedandshallbeestablishedbyacloselycontrolledmethodwhichshallbecarefullyfollowediftestresultsaretobereproducible.Thistestisusefulindeterminingtheconsistencyofpitchasoneelementinestablishingtheuniformityofshipmentsorsourcesofsupply.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthesofteningpointofpitchesbelow176x00B0;F(80x00B0;C).PitchesofhighersofteningpointshouldbetestedbyTestMethodD2319orTestMethodD3104.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
